NCEA Qualifications:

In New Zealand, the national qualification offered to senior secondary school students has recently changed. The new system, called the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) has just been phased in and will be offered at Year 13 level for the first time in 2004.

Students sit Level 1 of this certificate in Year 11, Level 2 in Year 12 and Level 3 in Year 13. These are equivalent to the old qualifications which were offered at these year levels. (These were called School Certificate, Sixth Form Certificate, and University Entrance, Bursaries and Scholarships respectively.)

For more information in NCEA or about university entrance requirements, see www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea.
